Cedalia “Sister Bell” Hopkins, 90, a native of Napoleonville, La., died Thursday, Aug. 20, at her daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Holden, La.
She is survived by one daughter, Minister Mary McKinley-Hardy and husband Rev. Clifton R. Hardy Sr. of Holden; three sisters, Clara Mae Butler of Lutcher, La., Ida M. Duverney of New Orleans, La., and Rose L. Jamison of Napoleonville; two brothers, James and Lloyd Bell of New Orleans; three sisters-in-law, Edna, Lucille Mildred and Hazel Bell, all of New Orleans; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 44 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great- great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Sr. and Laura McCormick Bell; husband, Leonard Hopkins; one daughter, Shirley and husband Peter Stalks; one granddaughter, Darlene McKinley; four brothers, Freddie Jr., Irving, Mederick and Lawrence Bell; two sisters, Orelia Howard Pearly Johnson and Cora King; and one sister-in-law, Pearl Bell.
She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Nelson Chapel AME Church in Napoleonville with religious services conducted by Rev. Richard Starks to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Williams & Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville is in charge of the arrangements.
