Charles Wellington Hanzy, 61, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Gibson, La., died Saturday, December 20, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Marie Thomas Hanzy; his mother, Lorenia Johnson Hanzy; two daughters, LaShonda Hanzy and Ebony Hanzy; four sisters, Louise Joseph, Annie Mae Johnson, Annie Lee Pratt and Orelia Turner; five brothers, Elijah Hanzy Jr., Nathan Hanzy, Alfred Hanzy, Lionel Hanzy and Claudel Hanzy; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elijah Hanzy Sr.; and his grandparents, Charles and Mary Hanzy and Richard and Carrie Cross Johnson.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was buried at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Gibson.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
