Kenneth Joseph Becnel, 62, a native and resident of Vacherie, La., died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 8:33 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Granier Becnel; mother, Laura deBautte Becnel; son, Shane M. Becnel; daughter, Courtney Becnel Miller; brothers, Francis “Butsy” and Kevin Becnel; sisters, Laural Ann Benoit, Barbara Babin and Melanie Boudreaux; and grandchildren, Tristan and Meah Becnel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francois Joseph Becnel.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict as Sergeant E-5. He was awarded three Purple Heart medals. He retired from Dow Chemical after 32 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A military service will be at 9:30 a.m. with mass to follow.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
