Clarence Leonard Matthews, 76, a native and resident of Houma, La., died.

He is survived by his sons, Clarence J. Matthews, Sr., Melvin McKinley, Cornell (Faye) Robinson, Elform (Monique) Fleming and Torrin Fleming all of Houma; daughters, Elaine M. Nelson, Linda J. Parker, Felicia (Tommy, Sr.) Aubert and Latara (Jerrod) Williams all of Houma, Chantal Matthews of Gray, La., Kim Worthen of California, Laura lee D’Ann Lewis of Texas and Blanche (Thomas) Smith of New Orleans, La.; sisters, Beatrice Matthews and Hazel M. Boykin; 32 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Matthews; parents, Joseph and Priscilla C. Matthews; children, Joseph Matthews and Greg Brumfield; brothers, Cleveland, Clifford, Johnny and Robert Matthews; and sisters, Sadie M. Theriot and Lillian M. Fitch.

He was buried at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
