Cleveland Joseph “Bubba” Matherne Sr., 93, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, April 6, 2014.
Mr. Matherne was a World War II veteran. He was a founding member and active participant of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and a charter/life member of St. Gregory Knights of Columbus 6170. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Douglas) Dupre, Susan (James) Goodreau, Connie (Ted) Torres and Renee (Gary) Fanguy; son Cleveland Jr. (Genie) Matherne; sister, Rita Mae Perrin; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea Matherne; parents, Corelia Pertuit and Cyprien Matherne; brother, Layton Matherne Sr.; sister, Ethel Leonard; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church with services to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
