Cornelius Williams Sr., 85, a native and resident of Belle Rose, La., died at Promise Specialty Hospital in Gonzales, La., Friday, November 7.


He is survived by three daughters, Letty Parker and Cynthia Williams, both of Belle Rose, and Betty Bailey of Yonkers, N.Y.; three sons, Vincent, Stanley and Ronald Williams of Belle Rose; one sister, Maxine Reed of Belle Rose; one brother, Harding Williams Sr. of Chicago, Il.; and numerous relatives.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes M. Williams; his parents, Caliste and Hester Vincent Williams; one son, Cornelius Williams Jr.; four sisters, Odessa Williams, Elvie Oliver, Vera Dorsey and Helen Narcisse; and three brothers, Calvin, Loyal and Joseph Williams.

He was a retired construction worker, a U.S. World War II veteran and a member of the Labor Union No. 1477 in Baton Rouge, La.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at First Israel Baptist Church in Belle Rose with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
