David Joseph “Highline” Smith Sr., 57, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, August 2.

He is survived by his companion, Carmen Bell; one son, David J. Smith Jr.; one daughter, Elisha Smith (Marcus); five brothers, John Smith, Eugene Smith, James Smith, Joseph Smith and Henry Smith Jr.; three sisters, Diane Williams, Lisa Smith and Sharon Smith; and two grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Smith Sr. and Cecilia Smith; and two brothers, Keith and Earl Smith.

He was a Mason and a member of the Bayou Black Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a retiree of Schlumberger.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at Community Funeral Home with burial to follow at Southdown Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
