Dr. Steven J. Hebert, 78, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Sunday, April 13, at 11:30 p.m.


He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgene U. Hebert; daughters, Cheryl Duet of Cut Off, La.; Michelle Terrebonne and husband David Terrebonne of Cut Off and Laura Dupont and husband Richard Dupont of Houma, La.; sister, Jennifer Friedlander and husband Ken Friedlander; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Webre and Luticia Rebstock Hebert; infant son, Steven Hebert Jr.; and son-in-law, Carl Duet.


He was a retired dentist of 47 years in Galliano and a First Lt. Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Air Force. He also served in the Korean War. He received a B.S. degree in geology from LSU and a D.D.S. degree from Loyola School of Dentistry. He was president of Si Omega Dental Fraternity. He enjoyed LSU football and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sacred Heart CYO, 15300 West Main Street in Cut Off.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off with mass to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
