Earl Joseph “Tootie” Chauvin, 86, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Tuesday, July 22, at 3:35 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Lapeyrouse Chauvin; son, Eugene Chauvin and wife Lucille M. Chauvin; daughter, Earline C. Watson and husband Daryle; brother, Elward “Sonny” Chauvin; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay J. and Louise Chatagnier Chauvin; brother, Elton “Peter” Chauvin; sisters, Eleanor Charpentier, Elry LeBoeuf and Elma Boudreaux; and one great-granddaughter.

He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was a Euchaistic Minister.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. A military service will be at 11 a.m. followed by mass. He will be buried at St. Elie Cemetery in Chauvin.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
