Edison Arthur “Pops” Singleton Sr., 68, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Oct. 15.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Rosetta S. Brown; three daughters, Suzanne Singleton of College Park, Ga., Lavechia Singleton of Decatur, Ga., and Sochile Harris of Houma; one son, Ralph Singleton of Houma; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Clacy Stevenson and husband Neal of New Orleans, La., Alma White, Emma Neville, Dorothy Jackson and husband Albert, Ida Nelson and husband Richard, Barbara Singleton of Houma, La., Bertha Riley and husband Rev. Issac Riley of Dularge, La., and Rosalie Thurman and husband Dave of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Wolner Singleton and wife Audrey of Donaldsonville, La., and George Singleton and wife Vera of Dularge; one aunt, Elouise Nelson; and one uncle, Samuel Harvey.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Alvin Singleton; three sons, Kenny Sr., Harold and Edison Singleton Jr.; one grandson, Kenneth Randolph Jr.; two brothers, Edward and Alvin Singleton; and three sisters, Inez Verrett, Wilhelmina Smith and Alice Lewis.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home with burial at Southdown Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
