Effie Doucet Vicknair, 68, a native of Abbeville, La., and a resident of Berwick, La., passed away at Teche Regional Medical Center Tuesday, Oct. 20, with her loving family by her side.

Effie is survived by her husband, Prosser J. Vicknair of Berwick; two sons, David J. Vicknair and wife Twyla “T” of Berwick, and Brain Vicknair of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter, Vickie Broussard and husband Glenn of Bayou Vista, La.; one brother, Durphy Doucet and wife Brenda of Butler, Ala.; one sister, Beverly Breaux and husband Ronald of Broussard, La.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.


Effie was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney Doucet and Gladys Doucet Prestwood of Abbeville.

Effie was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She loved rooting and watching LSU and the Saints play football. She enjoyed playing games and keeping in touch with her friends on the computer, listening to good music, eating at China King and most of all just spending time with her children and grandchildren which brought her a lifetime of joy.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Twin City Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at the church. Effie will be laid to rest at Morgan City Cemetery.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
