Elaine A. Grabert, 61, a lifelong resident of Houma, La., died following a lengthy battle with cancer Wednesday, February 4.


She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lionel J. Grabert; daughter, Robyn M. Grabert and fiancé Troy F. Neil; brothers, Richard A. “Dickie” Arcement and Floyd F. “Buster” Arcement and wife Julie of Houma; sisters, Janice A. Hebert of Houma, Martha A. Longman and husband Ralph of Franklin, La., Mary A. Plaisance and husband David of Raceland, La., and Nancy A. Collins and husband Freeman of Houma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard P. and Eulah Walker Arcement; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hebert.


She was a retired ophthalmic medical assistant. Since retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, participating in the Relay for Life and volunteering at the American Cancer Society.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary of the Pines, 3167 Old Hwy. 51 S, Chatawa, Ms. 39632.

She was burial at St. Anthony Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
