Elmo Joseph Martinez, 79, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, March 21, at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye Hawthorne Martinez; sons, David Philip Martinez and wife Angela Holloway Martinez, and Michael Elmo Martinez; daughter, Angela Martinez Arabie and husband Patrick Joseph Arabie; sister, Nanette Martinez Huber; brothers, Raynal Stephen Martinez, Royal Paul Martinez and Jerry Anthony Martinez; grandchildren, Tyler David Martinez, Patrick Joseph Arabie Jr. and Tiffany Elise Arabie; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gabriel Joseph Martinez; mother, Loreanna Terrebonne Martinez; and brothers, Gabriel Raymond Martinez and Daniel Alphonse Martinez.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 349 and the 40/8.
Visitation will be 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Assembly of God Church in Raceland with the funeral service to follow. The Reverend Troy Mott will officiate. Entombment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland.
