Emile Adam Cantrelle, 84, a native of Larose, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.


Mr. Cantrelle was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a construction foreman for Patterson and Edmondson for 33 years. He worked for the School for Exceptional Children for 10 years and was the coordinator and director at the Adventist Community Service Center for 20 years. He was an elder at the Houma Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an extremely humble man who shared his love for Jesus Christ with everyone he came in contact with. He worked as a volunteer for FEMA and ADRA during local disasters and also volunteered for the Terrebonne United Food Bank.


He is survived by his wife, Telcis Cantrelle; son, Burton Cantrelle; daughters, Susan (Gerald) Brunet and Sheila (Harvey) Pertuit; brothers, Andrew, Morris and Joseph Cantrelle; sister, Annabelle Wiley; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cashmere and Estelle Cantrelle; daughter, Sally White; brothers, Junius, Allen and Whitney Cantrelle; and sister, Julia Johnson.

Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
