Emma Bea Matthews, 84, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Monday Feb. 22, 2011.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Jr. (Patricia) and Rev. Larry (Ann) Matthews; daughters, Emma (Willie) Newton, Joella Washington and Ella (Earl) Thompson; foster daughter, Florence Madison; and sister, Helen M. Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Matthews Sr.; parents, Stright and Emma B. Hall Matthews; one daughter, Delores Smith; two brothers, Louis and Anthony Matthews; and two sisters, Alice Mae and Eliza Theriot.
She is buried at New Rising Sun Baptist Church Cemetery. (Kennedy)
