Ernest James Yancey, 88, a native of Davenport, Iowa, and resident of Terrebonne Parish, La., died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012.
Mr. Yancey was a U.S. Coast Guard and Navy veteran. He graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute with a Bachelor of Science and worked in the marine and oil industry for 35 years. He was one of the organizers of Synergy Bank, an avid golfer, one of the founders of Ellendale Country Club and served on the Terrebonne Parish Port Commission.
He is survived by his children, Susan Roos, Lydia Beauvais, Paula Guidry, Ernest Jr., Stanley, Amy, Gregory and Patrick Yancey; siblings, Marianne Landry and William Yancey M.D.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Watkins; and father, William Yancey.
Burial was at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. (Chauvin)
