Felicie Wurzlow Walker, 91, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, April 13.


She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James “Jake” C. Jr. and Sarah Walker, Thomas R. and Mimi Walker, Daniel J. and Georgiana Walker and Michael W. and Lorelei Walker, all of Houma; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadette W. and Winston Day, of Baton Rouge, La., and Sally W. and Jim McDevitt, of Houston, Tx.; brother, Kermit Wurzlow, of Houma; grandchildren, Jay Walker, Kathy W. Mella, Alice Walker, Tom Walker Jr., Ben Walker, Chris Walker, Brian Walker, Wendy Walker, Michael Walker, Walker Kerns and John Kerns; and great-grandchildren, Meghan Mella, Ashton Mella, Nicholas Walker, Joseph Walker, Jacob Walker, John Paul Walker, Delaney Walker and Hank Walker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jake” Carl Walker Sr.; parents, Frank W. Wurzlow and Felicie Sylvestre Wurzlow; brothers, Herbert, Frank Jr., August and Eugene Wurzlow; and sisters, Olga Wurzlow and Rowena W. Harvey.


She was a florist who, together with her brother Frank, opened Wurzlow Florist. She was a loving mother who adored, and was adored by all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family. She was an avid gardener who loved nature, especially birds and flowers. Her greatest moments were when she was surrounded by her family. Thank you to her caregivers, Bell and Curtis Billiot, Tisha Porche, Geralyn Bruce and Tony Pizzolatto.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vandebilt Catholic High School and St. Gregory Barbariago Catholic Church, where she was a parishioner.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Houma.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
