Floyd Joseph Robert, 75, a native and lifelong resident of Chauvin, La., died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010.


A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Robert was a commercial fisherman on the open water for many years. He found enjoyment in those same waters. Fiercely independent, he was a strong believer in looking for and finding solutions to problems big and small. His solid work ethic, attention to detail and sense of humor are his legacy.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Werlin Levron Robert; sons, Shawn (Monique), Toby and Floyd (Laura) Robert; daughter, Risa (Tim) Mueller; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Mueller, and Samuel, Hannah, Rebekah and Landon Robert; sisters, Judith (Gerald) Duplantis of Chauvin, Norma (Don) Thurman of Conroe, Texas, and Marilyn (Al) Ammons of Miami, Fla.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Theophile and Hilda LeBlanc Robert, and brother, Gary Robert.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Chauvin Funeral Home, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

He will be buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Chauvin.
