Francis W. Buckel Jr., 72, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Monday, June 23.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mire Buckel; four daughters, Jill Haines and fiance, Morgan Parker, Jane Voss and husband, Bill, Ann Meche and husband, Kirk, and Amy Henley; nine grandchildren, Jan Haines, Paul Haines III, Spencer Voss, Taylor Voss, Zachary Voss, Michael Meche, Matthew Meche, Andrea’ Henley and Gary Henley; and one great-grandchild, Julia Haines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis W. Buckel Sr. and Rena Mae Bourgeois Wainwright and husband, Clifford Wainwright; and one son-in-law, Paul Haines Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Francis de Sales or Vandebilt Catholic High School in Houma.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Friday, June 27, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery.
