Frank A. Smoorenburg, 88, a native of the Netherlands and resident of Patterson, La., died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.


Mr. Smoorenburg immigrated to the U.S. in 1958 first settling in Morgan City, La., then Patterson. He retired from Cameron Iron Works, worked with Boy Scout Troop 41 and served on the Wedell-Williams Aviation Museum Board. 


He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Smoorenburg; children, Joseph (Laura), Frank Jr. (Jolene) and Johnny (Cathy) Smoorenburg, Alice (Phil) Rauch, Cheerey (Ronnie) Ferriss and Mary Brady; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nico Smoorenburg; parents, Hendricus and Elisabeth Smoorenburg; and siblings, Henk, Gus, Gerard, Elizabeth, Ria, Yvonne and Anthony.

Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. (Ibert’s)
