Freddie ARed-0″ Griffin Sr., 93, a native of Paradis, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, May 21.


He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Hollie and husband Kernan, Marlene Barrio, and Ella Bea Hawkins of Thibodaux and Maxine Smith and husband Elton of Raceland, La.; sons, Rev. Lionel Griffin and wife Irma, Larry Griffin, Alexander Griffin and Earl Griffin all of Thibodaux; sister, Bertha Zardis of New Orleans, La.; a devoted granddaughter, Shadel Griffin; 21 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and George Griffin Sr.; son, Freddie Griffin Jr.; sister, Olevia Smith; brothers, Henry Williams, Ennis Griffin, Taylor Johnson and George Griffin Jr.; and granddaughter, Tammy Tolbert.

He was a member of Third Zion Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver from Robichaux Lumber and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Third Zion Baptist Church in Raceland with the religious service to follow. He will be buried at Brooklyn Cemetery in Raceland.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
