Gary Wayne Nelson Sr., 57, a native of Tulsa, Ok., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Thursday, April 10.
He is survived by his wife, Carmelita Sierra Nelson; mother, Velda Sullenger Colliver; son, Gary Wayne Nelson, Jr.; daughters, Amanda Jo Nelson and Erika Lynn Nelson; brothers, Berry Walker Nelson and Roger Keith Nelson; David and Tiffany Brasseaux; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walker Berry Nelson; brother, Larry Nelson; and grandparents, Walker Berry Nelson & Francis Nelson and Mr. & Mrs. William Andrew and Lydia Jane Sullenger.
He was a Baptist and he enjoyed fishing.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Community Funeral Home with the funeral to follow. He will be buried at Halfway Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
