Geneva Detress Bridgewater, 44, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Thursday, January 1.


She is survived by her parents, Lionel MansField Bridgewater Sr. of New Orleans and Mary Bridgewater Brown and husband Kenneth of Houma, La.; two sons, Devin Bridgewater and Ryan Bridgewater; four daughters, Eileen Bridgewater, Stacy Bridgewater, Delsynn Bridgewater and Katrita Bridgewater, all of Houma; three brothers, Lionel M. Bridgewater Jr. of New Orleans, Bertrand Bridgewater of California and Kelroy Bridgewater of Texas; five sisters, Burnegene Wilson Frederick of New Orleans, Loria Little of Houma, Danyelle Hendersshot of Texas, Nique Carter and Roxann Bridgewater of Houma; and three grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Marva Bridgewater; two brothers, Michael Bridgewater and Rudy Bridgewater; and her grandparents, Ruth Harris and Aurthur Swing, Freddie Bridgewater and Rachel Belasine.

She was Catholic and a homemaker.

She was buried at in Southdown Cemetery.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
