George E. Martinez, 82, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Chackbay, La., died at 10:52 p.m. Tuesday, November 11.


He is survived by his wife, Barbara Granier Martinez; three sons, Robert J. Martinez, Mark Martinez and George G. Martinez; one daughter, Cynthia M. Abadie; three brothers, L. Leo Martinez, Raymond F. Martinez and Marion P. Martinez; four step-daughters, Debra Roy, Tammy Fontenot, Leslie Lacoste and Lisa Lacoste; and three stepsons, Chris Lacoste, Zachary Lacoste and Roy LeBlanc.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Martinez and Eugenia Torres Martinez.

He served in World War II with the Marine Corps and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, November 16, at Thibodaux Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, November 17, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chackbay. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home of Thibodaux, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
