T’bonne’s Bayou Grace helping locals succeed
February 9, 2010Gertrude Whitrack Coleman, 81, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.
Mrs. Coleman was a retired nurse and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was also a member of J.J. Clement OES Chapter 15 and Gardenia Stitch and Snip.
She is survived by daughter, Gwendolyn Harris of Texas; brother, Johnny (Dertha) Whitrack of Atlanta; sister, Sylvia White of Atlanta; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Zenobia Whitrack; brothers, Robert “Bobby,” Huey and Freddie Whitrack; one sister, Rosa Lee Hawkins; and grandmother, Patsy Crump.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday, Feb. 9, at New Salem Baptist Church. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
She is buried at Deweyville Cemetery.
Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
