Hilda Malbrough Vial Madere, 81, a native of St. Charles Parish, La., and a resident of Columbia, Miss., died Monday, May 4.

She is survived by her son, John Vial and wife Joan; step-son, Don Madere; daughters, Yvonne Vial Dufrene and Sylvia Vial Elder and husband Preston; step-daughter, Diane Stuart; sister, Rose Taranto; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, John “Jack” Vial Sr.; second husband Fred Madere; parents, Harris Malbrough Jr. and Louise Leonard Malbrough; son-in-law, Dennis Dufrene; brothers, Alden Malbrough and Clifton Bonvillian; and sister, Anna May Breaux.

She was a member of St. Charles Parish Council on Aging, Advisory Council on Aging, RSVP Club, Holy Family Busy Bees and was a Pink Lady at St. Charles Hospital for 11 years.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, La., with mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling, La.
