Hilma “Maw Maw” Babin Marcel, a native of Presque Isle, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, March 12.


She is survived by her husband, Arcen Paul Marcel of Houma; sons, John Marcel and wife, Darlene, of Houma and Rodney Marcel Sr. and wife, Valarie, of Gray, La.; daughters, Bonnie Adams of Raceland, La. and Dee Dupre and husband, Mike, of Houma; brother, James Babin of Montegut, La.; sisters, Dolores Brien of Dularge, La., Dianne Robichaux of Raceland and Wilma Golden of Memphis, Tn.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Dule Babin and Bernice Thibodaux Babin; son, Kevin Marcel; daughter, Kathleen Toups; son-in-law, Clabert Adams Sr.; great-grandson, Arcen Michael Marcel; and 13 brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to play cards, cook, go to the casino and do things with her grandchildren. She will be truly missed. She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, March 17, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with mass to follow. She will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
