Hollis Dawson Jr., 75, a native of Magnolia, Ms., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, June 21.
He is survived by six sons, Fredrick Dawson and wife, Susan, Kenneth Dawson and wife, Flossie, Hollis Dawson III and wife, Phyllis, Mark Dawson and wife, Gaye, Joel Dawson and Deon Dawson; two brothers, Eddie Dawson and wife, Jessie, of Jackson, Ms., and Steve Dawson and wife, Betty, of Alabaster, Al.; three sisters, Annie Brown and husband, Gary, of Bowie, Md., Betty Handy and husband, Willie, of Tucson, Ar., and Patricia Gage and husband, Reginald, of Homestead, Fl.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Octavia Bonds Dawson; his parents, Hollis Dawson Sr. and Alma Williams Dawson; one sister, Valena Hampton; and his grandparents, Lucinda and Jonas Dawson.
He was retired and Baptist.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday, June 28, at Community Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial at First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
