Irene Folse Hohensee, 93, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, July 4.


She is survived by her sons, Warren Hohensee, Winston Hohensee and wife Christine, Wendell Hohensee and wife JoAnn, Gregory Hohensee and wife Judy, and Glenn Hohensee and wife Karen; daughters, Joanne LeBouef and husband Earl, Suzanne Rupe and husband Carl “Buddy”, and Mona Dupleix and husband Bobby; brother, Guy Folse; sisters, Genevieve “Mickey” Acosta and Sophie Breaux; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Hohensee; parents, Pierre and Anita Matherne Folse; two infant daughters; brother, Jules Folse; and daughter-in-law, Laura Gaudet Hohensee.


She was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.

Special thanks to her caregivers Tina Tastet, Myra Breaux and Mary Louise Walker.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at Holy Savior Cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
