Ivy Paul Pierre, 83, a native and longtime resident of Dulac, La., died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011.

Mr. Pierre was a devoted husband, nurturing father, loving grandfather and dear friend to those who knew him. He spent his life providing for his family as a commercial fisherman, living off the richness of the land in South Louisiana. He was strong and caring, his smile could light up a room and he always had jokes and stories to tell.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Pierre; sons, Paul (Hazel), Joseph (Caroline), Anthony (Linda), Raymond (Linda) and Michael Pierre; daughters, Carol (Lenwood Sr.) Parfait and Gertie (Jimmie Sr.) Tupper; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Anita Pierre; brothers, Adam, Irvin and Abby Pierre; sisters, Eva Boudreaux and Elma Billiot; son, Peter Pierre; and grandchildren, Paul Jr. and Amanda Pierre.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home with services to follow. Interment will be at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery. (Chauvin)
