Jake Williams, 91, a native of Terrebonne Parish, LA. and a resident of Houma, LA., died Friday, March 2, 2007.

Religious services will be held Friday, March 9, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at New Rising Sun Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Rosadell Townsend Williams, and his sisters, Mary Jane Sandoz and Charlotte Station.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Williams Sr. and Victoria Wilkins Williams; his brothers, Harry Jr., James, and Charles Williams; and his sisters, Gretrude, Thelma, and Gladys Williams.

He was a devoted member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church, at which he served as a decon and pianoist.

He was the founder of The Sunshine Band, a member of Blaine C. Clay Masonic Lodge No. 14, and a member of Terrebonne Parish Men’s Day Association.

He was a retired school bus driver for 31 years with Terrebonne Parish School Board.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
