James William Fox, 89, a native of Blue Grove, Texas, and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, July 8.


He is survived by his wife, Olene LaNelle Carr Fox of Houma; two daughters, Linda Fister and husband Gary of Houma, and Sonya Duckwall of Estes Park, Colo.; one son, James Fox and wife Sherry of Houma; three grandchildren, James Gary Fister II, John Kyle Fister and Heather Ann Dugas; and five great-grandchildren, Sarah and Alyssa Fister, Aaron and Brody Fister, and Taylor Ann Dugas.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clyde Fox and Ollie Mae Cook Fox; and six siblings, Homer Anderson, Lillian Hickey, Glen Fox, Ruby Fae McMillian, Walkie Fox and Guy Fox.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and a member of the Elks. He was a retired oilfield salesman and one of the founders of the Houma Oilman’s Invitation Golf Tournament.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Chauvin Funeral Home.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
