Janel Granger Fleming, on Monday, August 18, died at 5:40 p.m. after a short battle with leukemia.

Wife of 53 years of Kenneth C. “Tommy” Fleming of Houma, La.; daughter of the late Dudley Joseph and Leona Thomas Granger; mother of Shelia F. Boudreaux and husband Leslie, Elizabeth F. Bennett and husband Joey, Holly F. Pitre and husband John, Tommie Lynn F. Dillion and husband Rick; grandchildren, Nicholas Boudreaux and wife Elizabeth McCormick Boudreaux, Natalie B. Lyons and husband Kyle Lyons, Michael Gros, Matthew Bennett, and Henry Dillion; great-grandchildren, Katie Claire and Kole Anthony Lyons; step-grandchildren, Megan Dillion, Jennifer and Cindy Pitre; sister of Steve Granger of Erath, La., Markie Theriot of Los Angeles, Ca., and the late J. D. Granger and Jacques Granger; also numerous nieces and nephews.


Age 72 years, a native of Erath and a resident of Houma, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. Because she was so generous in life, the family prayerfully requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetic Association, St. Francis de Sales School and Vandebilt Catholic High School.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, 500 Goode St., Houma, with interment at St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 20, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral from 9 a.m. until funeral time.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
