Jeanne Louise Danos Dooley, 90, a native of Plaquemine, LA. and resident of Thibodaux, LA., died at 5:43 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007.


Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Landry’s Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, with burial in the church cemetery.


She is survived by one son, Paul Dooley of Buchanan, VA.; and one daughter, Veronica Dooley Speer of Jefferson City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Murray Dooley; her parents, Dr. Joseph Louis “J.L.” and Annie Comeaux Danos; three brothers, Arthur, Richard and Maurice Danos; and three sisters, Sister Mary Grace Danos, O.Carm, Sister Julianna Danos, O.Carm and Sister Carmelita Danos, O.Carm.

She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Thibodaux and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University in St. Louis. She served as a 2nd lieutenant (RN) during World War II and subsequently worked as a registered nurse for 30 years at St. Joseph Hospital and the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Thibodaux.

She was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Third Order of Mt. Carmel and the Lafourche Heritage Society. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, traveling, genealogy and historic preservation.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
