Jerris Joseph Blanchard, 75, a native and resident of Chauvin, LA., died Thursday, February 22, 2007.
Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in St. Elie Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary Martin Blanchard; one son, Philip A. Blanchard and wife, Tammie J.; one daughter, Diana B. Falgout and husband, Sheryl; one brother, Steve Blanchard; four grandchildren, Christina Falgout, Richard Falgout, Abigail Blanchard and Joshua Blanchard; and four great-grandchildren, Harley Sherman, Christina Johnson, Christopher Johnson and Alaigha Falgout.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elmira Prosperie Blanchard; five brothers, Harry Blanchard, Druis Blanchard, Roy Blanchard, Roland Blanchard, and Russel Blanchard; and two sisters, Angelic D. Soudelier and Edna Pellegrin.
He was a retired boat captain. He loved to fish and cook and help others. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
