John Carroll Songe, 77, a native of Montegut, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, August 2, at 8:25 a.m.


He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy Carolyn Coffman Songe; sons, John Arlen Songe and wife Amy of Houma, and Wayne Eric Songe and wife Lori of Reno, Nv.; daughters, Nancy Songe Blocker and husband Bill of Pensacola, Fl., and Julie Songe Barrilleaux and husband Bernie of Thibodaux, La.; brothers: Lloyd “Tootsie” Songe, Sr. of Houma, and Hugh Songe of Thibodaux; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis Songe and Winnie Blanchard Songe; and brother, Charles Toby Songe.

He was a dispatcher with Offshore Energy for 29 years, member of St. Bernadette Knights of Columbus Council 7355, Fourth Degree Knight, American Legion Post # 272, and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a parishioner: St. Bernadette Catholic Church

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, August 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
