John Smith, 68, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, August 5.

He is survived by six sons, Winfred Johnson and Kathy Arceneaux of Dularge, La., Travis Davis of California, and John Smith, James Smith, David Smith and Ebony Norman of Houma; three daughters, Doloris Short and husband Ronald of Gibson, La., Ann Margarett Matthews and husband Larry, and Darlene Williams and husband Hosea; four brothers, Daniel Smith and wife Lynell of New Orleans, La., Allen Smith and wife Rose, Earl Smith and wife Gloria, and Kelvin Smith of Houma; one sister, Theresa Turner and husband Tyrone Sr. of Houma; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Smith and Theresia Woods Smith; two brothers, Adam (Boo) Smith and Robert Smith; and three sisters, Charlotte Scott, Leona Scott and Jane Smith.

He was retired and a member of Residence Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, at Residence Baptist Church with burial to follow at Southdown Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
