Johnnie Francois Prejean, 89, a native of Gray, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Sept. 3.


He is survived by three sons, Johnnie F. “Dunie” Prejean Jr. and wife Elizabeth Hebert Prejean of Metairie, La., Steven M. Prejean and former wife Katheryn “Kit” Moore of Metairie, and Rene’ F. Prejean of Gonzales, La.; three daughters, Evelyn F. Prejean of Covington, La., Bernadette “Bunny” Clement and husband Douglas of Houma, and Marilyn T. Prejean of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Prejean and Marcelle Guyon Prejean; wife, Gladys Fonseca; one son, Louis J. Prejean; one brother, Louis R. Prejean; and two sisters, France Prejean Martin and Doris Prejean Burley.

He was Catholic. He was a boat captain in the oilfield.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Chauvin Funeral Home with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery No. 1.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
