Joseph “Billy” Sevin Jr., 73, a native of San Diego, Ca., and a resident of Schriever, La., died Sunday, February 1, at 10:25 a.m.


He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Deanie Brown Sevin; daughters, Faith Broussard and husband John, Lori Percle and husband Troy, and Julie Verret; grandchildren, Ashley Percle Melancon and husband Rusty, Lacey Broussard, Jude Percle, Kayln Solar, Lauren Broussard, Brook Solar and Blaise Solar; and great-grandson, Payton Melancon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Sevin; and his parents, Joseph and Odette Sevin.


He attended St. Ben’s Seminary for three years and was a graduate of Nicholls State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a charter member and head of the building committee of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8906 and a former board member and volunteer of the Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River, St. Benedict, La. 70457, or the Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity, 1087 Hwy. 3185, PO Box 691, Thibodaux, La. 70302.

He was buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
