Joseph Shelly “Joe” Ledet, 73, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes, LA. and resident of Houma, LA., died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

Funeral services were held at Annunziata Catholic Church, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park.


He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hansen Ledet; three sons, Murphy Ledet and wife, Peggy, Gary Thibodaux and wife, Peggy, and Nathan Thibodaux and wife, Paula; five daughters, Sherline Scott and husband, Morris, Judy Porche, Cecile Hutchinson and husband, Kerry, Mary Williams and husband, James, and Lisa Booth and companion, Harry McElroy; two sisters, Anna Mae Champagne and Eula Mae Ryals; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelly and Ella Ledet; two brothers, Derwood and Duffy Ledet; one sister, Rosa Mae Crochet; and one granddaughter, Johanna Ledet.

He was a member of Houma Elks Lodge No. 1193, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, U.S. Marine Corp League and Grand Caillou volunteer fireman.
