Leroy Martin Theriot, 73, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Terrebonne Parish, La., died Tuesday, December 2.


He is survived by his wife, Geraldine E. Theriot; son, Craig Theriot; daughters, Faye Theriot of Baton Rouge, La., Sheila Theriot Miller and husband Alfred Miller of New Orleans, La., and Karen Short and husband Calvin Short of Houma; brother, Milton John Theriot of Houma; sisters, Mildred Theriot of Houma, Geraldine Howard of Gray, La., and Bernadine Theriot of Houma; four grandchildren, Kenjatta Verdin, Nikki Theriot Allen, Brandy Verdin Austin and Nicholas Short of Houma; and nine great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Douglas Theriot and Webster Theriot; and grandparents, James Theriot, Sr. and Lucy Panks Theriot and Amelia Williams Douglas and Eloi Douglas.

He was past president of the now non-existent Golden and Pleasure Club for 25 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1317 3rd Degree, a past Faithful Navigator of The Knight of Columbus Assembly # 336 Judge A.J. Caillouet, past member of The Order of Alhambra Farragona Carvan # 245 (once a local Chapter), past Grand Knight of The Knights of Peter Claver Council # 338 3rd Degree, past usher of St. Lucy Catholic Church, financial secretary of St. Lucy Catholic Church and NAACP – Financial Secretary. He was a market manager for Rouse’s Supermarket and a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, at St. Lucy Catholic Church with the funeral services to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis # 2 Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
