Levy “Pont” Cooks Jr., 71, a native of Napoleonville, La., and resident of Belle Rose, La., died Tuesday, July 27, 2010.


Mr. Cooks was a retired employee of Leighton Sugar Mill in Thibodaux, La.

She is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Cooks; daughters, Cynthia and Cheryl Cooks; sons, Levy (Elizabeth) and Terrance (Tamika) Cooks; brother, Joseph Cooks; sisters, Stella (Junius) Scott and Rosalee Carcisse; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Levy Cooks Sr.; two stepsisters; and four brothers.

He is buried at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery.
