Lucille “Lou” Vice Verret, 92, a native of Dularge, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, May 10, at 5:45 p.m.


She is survived by her daughter, Catherine V. Dishman and husband, James; sons, William Decatur Verret Jr. and wife, Fran, and Kenneth P. Verret, all of Houma; a former daughter-in-law and friend, Faye T. Verret of Gray, La.; grandchildren, Jamie D. Portier, Richard J. Dishman and wife, Jenny, William “Billy” Dishman and wife, Jaime, all of Houma, Martin P. Dishman and wife, Jayne, of New Iberia, La., and Natalie J. Dishman M.D., and husband, Barry Bolner, of Morgan City, La.; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Decatur Verret Sr.; her parents, Paul and Noamie Brien Vice; brothers, Ollie, Louis, Ivy, Thaddeus, Francis and James; sister, Blanche Leonard; and grandson, Jeffrey Dishman.


She was a devout Catholic and a member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and crocheting and visiting with family and friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Russell Henry and his staff for their kindness and support.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church with mass beginning at 11 a.m.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
