Marie Hebert Blanchard, 102, a native of Bayou Black, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, January 22.


She is survived by four daughters, Rose Marie Richard and husband Gabe, Joy Cancienne and husband Paul, Shirley Hebert and husband Leroy, and Amelia “Peanut” Thibodaux and husband Melvin; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emile Blanchard; one infant daughter, Alice Blanchard; her parents, Rene and Emelienne Hebert; five brothers, Remie, Ervin, August, Willie and Paul Hebert; two sisters, Laurantine Breaux and Letitica Himel; five half-brothers, Alcide, Leo, Arthur, Wilford and Claude Hebert; and seven half-sisters, Rose Breaux, Bella Clement, Agatha Daspat, Sylvia Breaux, Annie Breaux, Felicien Hebert and Margarite Hebert.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 23, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
