Mitchell “Mitch” Cheramie, 44, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Monday, October 1, 2007.

He is survived by his parents, Houston and Rose Cheramie, Sr.; three brothers, Houston Cheramie Jr., Bill Leonard, and Zachary Leonard, Sr.; two sisters, Mary Lee Boynes, and Patsy Curole; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.


Mitchell was a member of the Cajun Cruisers and a local gunsmith. He was a paraplegic who enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, flying model airplanes, snow skiing, and motorcycles. Mitchell was Catholic.

Visitation is Wednesday, October 3, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 4, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano, with the funeral to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow, La. He will be buried in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
