Ms. Gertrude V. Meyn, 92, a native of Charenton, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 at 3:58 p.m.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Malcolm Anthony (Susan) Meyn Jr., Judith (Richard) Weimer, Kathleen (Steve) Newton, Gerald (Kathleen) Meyn, Donald (Pamela) Meyn and Kenneth (Marilyn) Meyn; sister, Elizabeth A. Veeder; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Anthony Meyn; parents, George and May Schwing Veeder; brother, George Veeder Jr.; sisters, Florabel Curry, Ethel Hope, Lena Mae Sinitiere, Louise Veeder and Irene Boudreaux; and one great-grandchild.


She was a homemaker and member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Anna Maria No. 993, a past member of the Thibodaux Woman’s Club, Bayou Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association and Pontchartrain Garden Club in New Orleans.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to masses or the E.D. White Catholic High School Foundation, 555 Cardinal Drive, Thibodaux, La. 70301.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with mass to follow. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
