Murphy Charpentier Sr., 83, a native of Greenwood, La., and a resident of Chauvin, La., died Friday, Sept. 4, at 3 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Lecompte Charpentier; four sons, Murphy Jr. and wife Levurn, Irvin and wife Carolene, Brian and wife Christine, and Matthew and companion Tyler; four daughters, Lola and husband Conrad Lirette Jr., Linda and husband Irvan Boudreaux, Mary Jane and husband Joseph Billiot, and Sharon Thibodeaux; three sisters, Irene Foret, Azelie Tivet and Flossie Foret; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elda Dupre Charpentier; two brothers, Jean Charpentier and Claude Charpentier; one sister, Jeanne Lapeyrouse; and two grandchildren, Mark Charpentier and John Lirette.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Samart Funeral Home in Houma, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
