Nelia Lee, 83, a native of Pierre Part, La., and a resident of Morgan City, La., and passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.


She is survived by one son, Euclide Legnon of Morgan City; six daughters, Rita Legnon and fiancé Michael Estell of Patterson, La., Anna Stevens of Berwick, La., Mary Jane Comeaux of Morgan City, Betty Jane Franklin and husband Ricky of Berwick, Peggy Boone of Berwick, and Dorothy Ahmad and husband “Dean” of Patterson; 30 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee; father and mother, Honore and Angelina Cavalier; one son, Norah Legnon; one daughter, Gloria Horton; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers; and two sisters.

Nelia had a zest for life and you could see it in her smile and hear it in her singing everywhere she went. She enjoyed cooking and especially frying up good ol’ beignets for family and friends. Nelia liked to cut a rug and at times just liked to sit and listen to music play on the radio. Nelia loved to travel and experience new sights and people wherever she went. Nelia was just plain fun to be around! Her family and friends will truly miss Nelia.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Twin City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Nelia will be laid to rest at Morgan City Cemetery.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
