Neoma “Newt” Crandle, 76, a native and resident of Raceland, LA., died Wednesday, April 11, 2007.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.


She is survived by five sons, Joseph Charles Jr. and wife, Imogene, Leroy Charles of Thibodaux, LA., Samuel Charles of Hattiesburg, MS., Justin Charles of Gonzales, LA. and Javor Charles and wife, Valerie, of Raceland; three daughters, Elnora Allen and husband, Nathan, Rosalie Sims and husband, Bryan, of Raceland and Cassandra Charles Williams and husband, Rasheen, of Houma; three sisters, Sarah Byes of Raceland, Clara Lewis and husband, Talton, of Harvey, LA. and Celestine Williams of Thibodaux; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Crandle; her common law husband, Joseph Charles Sr.; her parents, Carter and Sarah Caldwell; five brothers, Cleveland Caldwell Sr., Carter Caldwell Jr., Anderson Caldwell, William Caldwell and Benjamin Caldwell; and two grandchildren.

She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.

Kennedy Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
