Pearl Ethel Toups Legendre Constant, 101, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, January 27, 2008.


She is survived by her daughters, Esterlina “Sis” L. Walker and Dolores L. Landry; brother, Joseph Toups Jr.; sister, Hattie L. LeBlanc; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eves Legendre; her second husband, Walter J. Constant; her parents, Joe Toups and Henrietta Cancienne Toups; son, Junius Legendre; daughter, Audrey Mae Szush; one great great-granddaughter; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Pearl was a retired nurse of 45 years with St. Joseph and Thibodaux Hospital.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with mass to follow. She will be buried in the church cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
